I had some cinnamon raisin bread that I sliced how I wanted it.
Took the leftover Egg Nog And made French toast, as I said I would.
I've been told that the egg nog deserves commendations. If that is the case, then the French toast made with it deserves a medal.
The rum flavor pops out of this supposed breakfast food...
It's yummy :)

Homemade of course...
6 eggs
1 14 once can of sweetened condensed milk
1 quart of low fat milk (you can use skim, but c'mon... it's eggnog and really can't be low fat...)
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/3 pint heavy cream
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
pinch of salt
wisk eggs then the rest all together in a large bowl.
ladle into glass
If you prefer, add rum: as much or as little as you like (Gosling's gold/ Mount Gay Barbados is best)
Any leftover should be used the next morning to make French toast.
Happy Holidays :)

Ginger Pear Bread
1/4 Cup butter (1/2 stick) at room temperature
1 Cup sugar
2 Eggs
1 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/3 cup buttermilk
1 - 1 1/2 ripe pears (bosc/anjou are best) peeled (can be unpeeled if you like) medium diced
1/2 cup small dice crystallized ginger (I used 1/4 cup crystallized ginger and grated up ~ 1 oz of fresh peeled ginger, juice and all, into the bowl)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Prepare one 9x7 loaf pan with pan spray
Sift together flour/baking powder/baking soda. Set aside
Cream together the butter and the sugar until fully mixed
Add eggs one at a time, incorporating well between each addition
Add vanilla
Alternate mixing in the sifted flour mixture and the buttermilk starting with ~ 1/3 of the flour Add half the buttermilk and so on, ending with the final 1/3 of the flour. mix until the flour just starts to disappear.
Mix in the ginger
Fold in the pears
Scrape the batter into the prepared pan
Bake for 50-60 minutes (check earlier if you have an odd oven like I do)
Cool in the pan for ~ 5 minutes then turn out onto cooling rack to complete cooling

The set list from the Agganis Arena Saturday night August 11
Take a Bow
Map of the Problematique
Hysteria
Supermassive Black Hole
Butterflies and Hurricanes
City of Delusion
Stockholm Syndrome
Feeling Good
Sunburn
Invincible
Starlight
New Born
Time Is Running Out
Bliss (extended)
Encore:
Plug In Baby
Knights of Cydonia
They had some sound issues (it seemed like they might have had monitor issues as Matt started singing half a beat late on some songs and the bass sounded a little odd at times...new sound guy is my guess)
All told it was a lot of fun.
geekpixie and I had a blast :)
I would highly recommend seeing them live

There's only sorrow remaining to reap
Fetal I lie here broken and subdued
I hold it inside where all secrets keep
Losing moments behind eyes half asleep
Emotion itself became misconstrued
There’s only sorrow remaining to reap
The precipice patiently awaits my leap
Weakened inside, no strength ever accrued
I hold it inside where all secrets keep
Peel away the guilt from a wound so deep
Promising whispers can only allude
There's only sorrow remaining to reap
Slowly dying as blood begins to seep
There is no redemption, no life renewed
I hold it inside where all secrets keep
I'm drowning now from these tears that I weep
With nothing left, I can only conclude
There's only sorrow remaining to reap
I hold it inside where all secrets keep
I wrote this a long time ago... just perusing through some old postings on other sites and I came across this. Adjusted a little to clarify the point, as I no longer feel this way...
one little thing happens and everything changes...
Thank you
